Company History

DNA Group Incorporated began as SEI Components Incorporated in 1987. SEI imported electronic and electromechanical components and developed an emphasis on switch products within specific markets: appliances, power tools and consumer products. During this period, Defond Manufacturing Limited (Hong Kong), one of SEI's key suppliers recognized the strategic and investment value of a long-term relationship with SEI, both as a supplier and a partner.

1989
Defond North America Inc. was created by merging the interests of SEI and Defond into a 50/50 joint venture with shared equity and a single clear mission: serve the NAFTA OEM marketplace for appliances, power tools and electronics, by building long-term relationships with its customers.

1991
Defond North America pioneered the U.S. introduction of Defond Manufacturing Limited's patented ALCI shock protection devices into the personal care market. This market has since expanded to include other applications including steam extractors, pressure washer and water filtration products.

1993
Defond North America changed its name to DNA Group, Inc. to better reflect its broad range of product offerings and brand names.

1995
DNA expanded its service levels by opening it?s first regional sales offices in Chicago, IL and Cleveland, OH.

2000
DNA purchased the Taltronics Humidistat product line, further expanding its product offering for the HVAC market.

2002
DNA expanded both its product offering as well as its presence into new markets with the purchase of two new product lines. DNA added to its switch products with the purchase of the appliance switch line from Littelfuse, Inc. DNA established a new business unit focused on the Marine and Transportation markets with the purchase of Grayhill Inc.'s Digital Switching Systems product line.

2004
DNA introduced its newly developed 1- and 2-pole definite purpose contactor product line.

2005
DNA restructured its operations to conduct business under three separate companies: Defond North America, LLC, Digital Switching Systems, LLC, and Sygnal Technologies, LLC. DNA also established its own distribution and value-added source center in Raleigh, NC.

2008
President and CEO, Eric Vaughn recently announced the purchase of the outstanding shares in DNA Group, Inc., thus consolidating the ownership.
